Today is, thankfully, Friday. School hasn’t exactly been difficult, but getting up at 5:30 every morning is a pain in the arse for me. I just can’t do it. Just this morning I over slept 45 minutes and woke up at quarter after six.

Like I said, school itself isn’t bad. In fact, it’s rather enjoyable. My first block is Ceramics I. I love it so much! I’ve just finished up a clay bust of the profile of a face wearing a simplified version of an Indian headdress and I couldn’t be more proud of myself! It came out much better than I’d ever expected. Second block is Chemistry; not much to say about that except that it’s surprisingly interesting. Third block’s study hall; fourth block is English and Communications (had to give a speech in that class just yesterday); and fifth block is housing and interior design. THAT class is the only class I can’t stand. It’s downright dull. Wish I’d never chosen it as one of my precious electives.

This weekend happens to be my birthday! It’s Sunday, October 2nd. I’m extremely excited, especially for the cake: confetti cake, with vanilla frosting and rainbow sprinkles; a bit girly, but there it is.

Well, I’ve got to go for now. Should probably start reading To Kill A Mockingbird. We were assigned to read a couple of chapters for Monday. So far, it actually is a pretty decent book.

Anyways, the real  reason I’ve been wanted to post again is to show all you guys some of the awesome Youtube videos I’ve been finding lately.

So yeah, that was pretty much all I wanted to say. Probably post again once in a blue moon . . . . maybe sooner if I want to.

Anywho, today was MUCH better than yesterday. As I’m typing I’m sitting in the living room of my friend, Sara’s, living room using her mom’s laptop. I rode my bike to her house around four-ish. We walked to Pick N’ Save and bought Peace Tea and gum. Then we ate dinner and we’re now currently watching recorded episodes of NCIS. It’s been great, especially since this is the first time I’ve seen Sara since the last week of school.

Earlier today, I lied outside for half an hour, attempting to get tan. I wore sunblock of course, I burn way too easily. Not sure if the half hour worked, but, we’ll see. It was more of a way to pass the time anyways.

How was your week?

I’ve been enjoying those British comedy shows on Sunday night on PBS; when I first saw them flicking through the channels I thought they were just a bunch of shows for old people, but they’re hilariously funny! There’s this one, The Last of the Summer Wine about this lot of old man who do the craziest things trying to prove that even though their old they can still do crazy things like climbing out of second story windows to escape work given to you by your wife. Then there’s a newer show called  Old Guys about two men who are roommates, one is really kind and nice and the other is super grumpy and crabby. I can’t even explain this one, you’ve just gotta watch it. The shows start on Sunday night at 5 or 5:30, depending, and go on for a bit.

Time goes by much too fast. Monday’s already the Fourth which is ridiculous in itself let alone all the other things I didn’t expect for happen for a long time. For example, Jamie, my older sister, just got her first job and is turning 16 this September and is a junior in high school next year. Then there’s my oldest sister, Maria, who’s turning 20 this November. Then there’s me, already gonna be a sophomore. Freshmen year went by way too fast!

Other than the time going by too fast, summer’s going really well! Hope yours is too!

Around 3:30 I went outside taking with me my two Vampire Weekend CDs, my CD player (I know, I’m WAY out of things when it comes to technology, I need an iPod), my sketchbook and a pen. I was drawing silhouettes of people in different poses for a bit when I looked up and saw this teeny bunny sitting a bit away from me in front of these massive unkempt bushes we have in our backyard. I immediately began sketching the bunny before it could run away, then started on the background. I was super into sketching the scene, and it was looking great, but I must’ve been sitting too still for too long because this great fat squirrel came to about a foot from where I was sitting. It made this curious noise and my head darted up giving the poor little thing a seizure. I’ve never seen a squirrel run so fast. Lucky it did come so close though, because it was only then when I looked up and realized it was going to rain soon. So I packed up my things and went back inside, a bit disappointed because I couldn’t finish the sketch, but still, it was a good day.

Not everyone in my history class was given a bunch of homework. Just us kids that are going on the art field trip to Chicago tomorrow. We’re leaving at 7:30 in the morning, ugh, and coming back and 5 in the evening, yay! Anywho, so I had to get tomorrow’s homework today. I figured it’d just be easier to finish it all off today instead of tomorrow, cause, with my luck, I’d probably forget.

We’re going to Chicago to visit the Art Institute. It’s got this major museum attached to it that people come from everywhere to see. We got discounted admission tickets because we were from a high school and could potentially be future students at the college. After that, we’re heading to Millennium Park  to check out the big bean and that tight fountain with the two digital faces on either end of it (we were told the names of them, but I forgot. I swear sometimes I think I have short term memory loss). After that we’re heading to one of the malls to eat. If you finish eating early you get to go shopping if you want. It’s going to be great! Plus, as an added bonus, summer vacation is only 17 days away!

Unlike the average American, I got a bit more creative and starting looking up French music. After finding a couple of amusing videos of American’s attempting to sing in French, I came across a music video of an actual French singer by the name of Camille. There were quite a few of her songs that I enjoyed, but this one was my favorite. It’s perky and happy.

SPRING. BREAK.

Most of the class went into the corner, we turned off the radio, killed the lights and locked the door. The rest of the class, me and about four others, went into this ten foot space that separated the two art room by two doors. Know the five of us couldn’t handle ourselves; we laughed, we cracked jokes, we talked loudly. All in all, we had fun. Now, don’t get me wrong, the rest of the class wasn’t being all too quiet either. We were just louder because the room made our voices echo.

After about a half hour of just sitting there, a voice over the loud speaker spoke again. “Staff, we are now transitioning from a lock down to and lock and hold. You may continue teaching normally but no student is to leave the class until the bell rings.”

Fine by me.

So we turn back on the radio, flick the lights back on and go back to making our foam sculptures. The class went back to our normal groove of cutting, pinning the pieces on, then cutting some more. Soon the bell rings and it’s time to go to second block.

In my second block, the class was in a buzz. As it turns out, the lock down drill, was just a lock down. A real lock down. And my second art teacher could hear the five of us in the divider room loud and clear.

Oops.

High school has been, well, typical high school; relationship drama left and right; friends getting mad at each other over the tiniest, most insignificant conversations, and peas getting flicked at the back of people’s heads in the lunch room. In other words, things are great. Spring break is speeding my way and I can’t wait to dig my hands into some jelly beans on Easter. Schools been pretty easy because two of my four classes are art and I couldn’t love art more. I haven’t been getting much homework either, with is more of a coincidental bonus.

I’ve been doing the norm; hanging out with my friends; endearing the hot, crowded, back end of a city bus everyday after school and walking for another half-hour to get home; finishing my homework with as much speed and little amount of work as possible and still managing to pass all my classes with flying colors; and staying up as late as my body will allow me. You know, a typical teenager’s life.
